AP Exclusive: WHO report says animals likely source of COVID

China rejected that criticism Monday.

“The U.S. has been speaking out on the report. By doing this, isn’t the U.S. trying to exert political pressure on the members of the WHO expert group?” asked Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian.

Pet Food Recalled In Colorado Due To Salmonella Concerns

COLORADO — A Midwest-based pet food company is voluntarily recalling some of its dog and cat food products, including some distributed in Colorado, due to potential salmonella contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

The FDA said no pets have been sickened from eating the affected lots of Evanston, Indiana-based Midwestern Pet Foods brands that were produced at the company’s Monmouth, Illinois, production facility. The products were distributed to stores nationwide and online retailers.

The recalled products include certain lots of the following brands:

  • Canine X
  • Earthborn
  • Holistic
  • Venture
  • Unrefined
  • Sportmix
  • Sportmix Wholesomes
  • Pro Pac
  • Pro Pac Ultimates

Three months after aflatoxin recall, Midwestern Pet Foods recalls more pet products over salmonella risk

Midwestern Pet Foods has issued a voluntary recall of certain dog and cat food brands manufactured at the company’s Monmouth, Illinois, facility because they may be contaminated with salmonella, according to a company announcement posted on the FDA website.
The affected brands, which are sold nationwide, include CanineX, Earthborn Holistic, Meridian, Pro Pac, Pro Pac Ultimates, Sportmix, Sportmix Wholesomes, Sportstrial, Unrefined and Venture.

The Indiana-based company discovered the potential for contamination after routine sampling. You can tell if your product needs to be thrown out by looking at the expiration date, the company said.

Bradford County man charged after deceased dog found with a trash bag on its head, second dog in deplorable condition

COLUMBIA CROSSROADS, Pa. (WETM) – Cody Collins of Columbia Cross Roads was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police after an animal abuse investigation.

According to State Police, Collins’ landlord discovered a deceased pit bull with a trash bag over its head near the woods behind a home on the 3300 block of Big Pond Road.

State Police say the dog “appeared malnourished with its rib case being visible through its skin.”
